The University of Prince Edward Island
The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is a leading undergraduate University located on the East Coast of Canada. Its 130-acre campus features nine academic buildings, three residences, a dining hall, library, sports center, student center, a teaching hospital, and several research institutes.
UPEI uses a ScreenScape-powered network of screens, which they call their Campus Information Display, to deliver on a range of strategic goals. At a basic level the screens assist the University's most basic communication needs, including the instant relaying of emergency messages.
Communication
There are many buildings on campus and ScreenScape's network-architecture allows UPEI to distribute creative control over the screens to various organizations around campus, including the student union. The various buildings around campus are treated as venues in the system which means a local administrator in each building can decide to what degree they want to provide their own custom content in their own building, or use centrally-authored standard UPEI content entirely.
Easy to use
"The learning curve on the product has been almost non-existent. Due to considerable time constraints our department has struggled to devote resource to this project and yet the resulting product has been praised for its quality and reliability. It is testament to its simplicity and transparency that we have been able to keep it current and interesting. " Glenda Clements, Manager - Integrated Promotions
The Campus Information Display has proven valuable again and again. From student events, to key scheduling logistics, to inspirational quotes and public acknowledgments, there is always something new to go up on the screens.
