Royal Springfield Museum
The Royal Springfield Museum (RSM) celebrated its 100th anniversary, in part, by renewing its strategic communication plan. Its board of directors, led by Scooter Johnson, arrived at the decision that they would develop an elegant ScreenScape-powered screen display for their institution.
"We were helped by the local tourism association", says Scooter. "They were encouraging us to get on the network so we (tourist operators) could present a kind of uniform system to our tourists. But that was just the start of it."
RSM experimented with a variety of content strategies.
"It was all so easy", says Scooter. "We had plenty of content just laying around. So we started with an existing MS-Powerpoint presentation that outlined our museum's history and its services. We subscribed to a slide pack from the Greater Springfield Tourism Association which provided tourism brochureware: pictures of Springfield, facts and figures and that kind of thing. We use ScreenScape slides, on a regular basis, for our own news and events. And we subscribe to local news feeds to keep it interesting".
When asked about how screens fit with the historic decor and austerity of the old museum Scooter was quick to answer.
"The configurable skins they (ScreenScape) provide made all the difference. We found a style that was modest and elegant. We used our own logo and official colors....so it fits our brand and looks like we spent a fortune. The high-tech professional touch only adds to the environment".
