Springfield Town Council

Councilor Rick Stevens set up his own ScreenScape-powered screen display for a little demonstration to the rest of council.

"There are countless ways we could be using tastefully designed screen displays in our community". He said.

A Network of Screens

"Tourism applications, events, public service announcements, you name it. What we can do, as a municipality, is lead by example. This service called ScreenScape can help us develop a democratic network of screens throughout our community that are coordinated yet independent at the same time. We can play a role as content facilitator and spearhead our own Springfield Information Display. Maybe we can offer the service to our local charities. And the venues in our community who want to participate can do so to whatever degree they would choose".

Rick went on to describe a few scenarios.

Message Service

"Take the summer. When tourists are arriving in Springfield they could see a branded, well-coordinated message service on screens all over town that tells them a bit about our town, a bit about what's going on while they are here, and because the individual venue can customize it to whatever degree they want, a bit about what's exciting at their place of business. Now if you were a tourist wouldn't you be impressed?"

Economic Development

"And how about the commercial applications. Our local businesses can use the network to share content amongst themselves. Those businesses who share a similar clientele can use each other to market their business to a larger more receptive audience. Why wouldn't the golf course and the ski hill or the ice rink get together to help each other go after new members. They cater to a similar audience but they have different seasons.

And if our members wanted, they could even let in other advertisers, even those at a distance. So when the marathon happens this fall, a few of the local businesses can sell a bit of screen space to a large sports marketing company if they want. It beats posters!"

After a short deliberation the council unanimously agreed to run with the project.
