Blanchard Hall
Terry McGrady, the residence coordinator at Blanchard Hall, was looking for a communications tool that could enhance the living experience in his building.
Blanchard Hall served as a student residence in the winter, and a hostel in the summer. Terry was in a nearby apartment building when he noticed their ScreenScape-powered screen display and decided to look into it. "We've set up screens in the lobby and in the lounge" says Terry.
Easy to get started
"To get started we just subscribed to a few local news feeds, including a local arts & entertainment weekly which lists local youth oriented community events. We use ScreenScape slides to post messages on a daily basis - everything from lunch specials in the cafeteria to important dates in the calendar like when our fees are due! And then there's photo sharing. But the service really came alive when our residents realized that we could incorporate web video as well. We use a free service to post the videos under one group, which is moderated but certainly open to contributions from outside. The latest collection of videos is then pulled into ScreenScape automatically. By all accounts...It's a lot of fun and creates a great atmosphere for our students and guests".
