Kennedy Coliseum
At Kennedy Coliseum things are always changing. One day it's a hockey game, the next day it's a monster truck rally. "We've had horse shows, dog shows, supercross, rock shows, circuses....you name it" says general manager Cheryl Blakeney. "And we've used screens for some time. We used to just have programmable LED panels and the big screen - both of which had to be manually updated for every event. And, for all practical purposes, that usually meant the screens were often shut down. Too much work to keep up. Then we switched to digital signage, but the software was hard to use, which created a bottleneck, with one employee doing all the updates. The software was costly and we were essentially a stand alone venue.
Low Cost - High Return
With ScreenScape it's different. With ScreenScape we can manage a dynamic program of content centrally and deploy it on any Internet-connected screen we want. Most of our content works across events: event calendar, news feeds, Kennedy Coliseum branding, and that kind of thing. When a big event comes through we just post a few new slides specific to the new event, put them on heavy rotation and everyone thinks we've worked on a completely custom media channel for them. It's great. All of our staff find it easy to use and we feel the power of being networked to a whole community to get our message across."
Cheryl has also used the Coliseum's screen display for commercial purposes.
Sponsorship
"Oh yes, the screens are there as a core part of our sponsorship package every year. And we sign up partners all the time on an ad hoc basis who want to be a part of it...some local, some big national brands too. Our municipality has recently got behind the service in their own way helping to lead up an Internet-based community news service. In effect when an event comes to town the whole area helps to create a uniform brand. The big event might be taking place right here in the Coliseum but the hype is everywhere. That's the power of ScreenScape".
