The SuperLoo
A public washroom is a high traffic area. SuperLoo is located just off the food court of a busy mall. The mall administration decided the public washroom held an opportunity for tenant advertising to lure visitors to stay longer at the mall, and to provide a higher quality of service within their establishment.
Communication
At first, the food court tenants primarily used the display to feature time of day specials, from breakfast bagel in the morning, to subway specials at lunch, to smoothies during peak afternoon hours. The food court tenants noticed an increase in sales on the days their scheduled ads ran.
Soon the mall administration was approached by the retail tenants who realized they could run their existing promotions, as an opportunity for visitors to the mall who might not be aware of their in store signage. Retailers soon noticed that customers were coming into the store requesting the items they had seen on the display.
The sports store soon realized that the mens room was perfect for targeting their male demographic, and requested specific promotions run only in the mens room, while they designed different promotions for their female clientele, to only run in the ladies room.
It turned out the washroom was an ideal place for messaging, as visitors were more relaxed and could gaze at the screens while waiting for a vacant loo. The mall administration found ScreenScape made it simple to subscribe to their tenants' content, and to schedule content by dates, so expired content would automatically be removed from the playlist.
The mall administration now has plans to increase the number of smaller displays to try out different areas such as behind the stalls in the mens room. The display in the parent nursing room, next to the change table, was a wonderful fit for children's videos, as well as bookstore and toy store ads.
Revenue
They are thrilled with the response from their tenants and increased revenue from their displays, and have noticed more traffic overall to the mall within a three month period since installation.
