The Starting Gate
The Starting Gate (SG) is the first building you see when you drive off the ferry onto the fair Isle of Pala. The Starting Gate greets tourists as they arrive and explains, in a playful and brief manner, a little about the mixed history of the Island and the kinds of attractions they may want to seek out during their stay.
SG uses a series of ScreenScape-powered screen displays to help support their operation. The screens offer fantastic logistical, signage, and promotional opportunities. The management of SG subscribes to a variety of third-party content including news feeds, photo albums, and web-based videos to reinforce their own custom content based on MS-Powerpoint and ScreenScape slides.
Impact
"Our service has become a key publishing vehicle for tourist operators on the Island" says general manager Robert Binns. "We are the first place our tourists stop and not one goes through here without looking up at our screens. It used to be that tourist operators wanted to drop their brochures off. Now they want us to subscribe to their slides on ScreenScape".
Binns marvels at how the system works.
Intelligent Matchmaking
"When I log in to ScreenScape and browse the community it's like they know what I want to do. The very partners I want to work with are easy to find. I can just select their slide pack or whatever it is and add it to a screen in a second. I'm no techie.....and I've always found what I could do what I needed to with ScreenScape".
